Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experiencedSocial Workerto join theChildren's Assessment Team in Barking&Dagenham. Thisongoing locum roleoffers an excellent hourly rate of£37.52 per hour, withpart-time or full-time optionsandflexible working hours.

Core hours are9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, however the service offers flexibility around start and finish times. This could include patterns such as8am-6pm over four days,8am-4pm,9am-6pm, and other variations to suit your lifestyle.Part-time working is also considered.

This is a front-line statutory role where you will work with children and families at the point of referral, completing high-quality assessments and taking decisive action to safeguard children.

What You Will Do
  • Undertakeinitial and statutory assessmentsof children and families.
  • Manage cases throughCare Proceedingswhen required.
  • Take cases toInitial Child Protection Case Conferences.
  • Complete assessments using theSingle Assessment Framework.
  • Undertakecare planningand provide appropriate signposting to families.
  • Completerisk assessmentsand write high-quality reports for conferences and court.
  • Participate in and contribute tomulti-agency case conferences and meetings.
  • PrepareSection 17 reportsand other documentation for Family Court.
  • Draftinitial court statementsand apply forEmergency Care Orderswhere necessary.
  • Attend court and provide professional evidence.
  • Undertakehome visitsto monitor situations and safeguard children.
  • Chair and contribute tomulti-disciplinary meetingsto coordinate intervention plans.
Requirements
Essential
  • Qualified Social Worker withSocial Work England registration.
  • Experience working in aChildren's Assessment / Front Door / Safeguarding Team.
  • Strong knowledge ofChildren Act legislation, safeguarding procedures, and care proceedings.
  • Ability to producehigh-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation.
  • Confident working infast-paced, high-demand environments.
