This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Applicants wanted to work with a 9-year-old boy with diagnoses of autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and epilepsy. Applicant will be willing to partake in training on epilepsy emergency medication and deal with personal care.
This young boy is a happy, inquisitive and lively individual who enjoys always being on the go and enjoys physical activities such as active play. He also enjoys water play and sensory activities such as flapping objects. He can enjoy solo play. This young person requires constant supervision as he has limited sense of danger.
Applicants should have experience of working with SEN and be an energetic individual with ability to be patient.
About the roleThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Receiving the recipient safely at his home from school bus transfer.
- Encouraging the recipient to engage in activities.
- Helping to improve their social skills.
- Settling the individual and supervising snack-time.
- Keeping them safe in the community.
- Helping to fulfil their potential.
- Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
2-3 days per week term time 3.30-5.30pm Monday and Wednesday. Additional flexible hours in the holidays.
About the candidateThe suitable candidate must:
- Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
- Be patient, caring and understanding.
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
- Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
- Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
Whilst caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker, the right attitude and a person-centred approach is more important.
TravelSome travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
