Retail Manager, Bedford

Quest Employment, the recruitment company where People are our Priority, are currently seeking an experinced Retail Manager for a newly established food retail business.  Our client is opening their flagship store in Bedford in November and require an experienced food Retail Manager to join and steer the team. The business specialise in a wide variety of African Caribbean foods and their focus is on providing healthy, nutritional and sustainable products, whilst providing educational benefits to customers with their extensive range of exotic products.  The successful candidate will be in charge of a small team and responsible for the store budget, performance and success. This business believes in rewarding achievers and offers a strong bonus incentive scheme to promote success, in addition to a good pension scheme. The ideal candidate will be a responsible, self-starter with experience in food retail management (preferrably in the Afro-Caribbean food market).  Responsibilities of this role will include;  organising all store operations interview, recruit & train store staff allocating responsibilities to team members manage & motivate team to increase sales and ensure efficiency conduct staff appraisals & performance reviews prepare & control the budget of the store monitor stock levels & purchases to ensure budgets are adhered to handle customer queries and complaints ensure standards for quality, customer service & health & safety  plan and oversee in-store promotional events or displays analyse sales & revenue reports & provide forecasts promote a positive local reputation for the business initiate improvements to the business Requirements for the role; proven experience as a food retail store manager (preferably in the Afro-Caribbean sector) knowledge of retail maangement best practices knowledge of retail management POS systems strong customer service skills ability to plan, delegate, multi-task and work under pressure flexibility (within reason) in working hours around business & team needs The successful candidate will ideally be in place by mid-October allowing for full input in the recruitment of the new team, and opening of the store in November.  All applications are being handled by Quest Employment.
