Formulation Chemist - Pharmaceutical / Personal Care …, Bedford

Our Client is a very successful Pharmaceutical / Personal Care manufacturing company. They are now seeking a Formulation Chemist ? Cosmetic / Cosmeceutical (Skin Care) Products for their formulation department to assist in the development of new cosmetic / cosmeceutical products. This position is a full-time permanent role and will be based at their site in Bedford. Job Purpose * An opportunity has arisen to join the formulation department to assist primarily in the rapid throughput formulation development of new cosmetic / cosmeceutical products * Participation in the formulation development of pharmaceutical medicines and medical devices would also be expected Key Areas of Responsibility * Rapid development of novel, wide ranging, innovative formulations from initial design concept through to the final article. This will include aspects such as excipient / packaging choice and compatibility, optimisation of physical characteristics and performing physicochemical stability studies * Creation of bench scale prototype formulations * Assessing physical stability parameters to determine lead formulations and packaging to be taken forward * Writing development stability protocols and short development reports, SOPs and protocols * Involvement with scale-up of potential formulations up to 100 kg pilot scale including the opportunity to support manufacture and filling of clinical trial supplies * Troubleshoot / re-formulate existing marketed product * Continuous improvement in technical knowledge, company processes, and laboratory equipment capabilities Qualifications / Experience * Degree in Cosmetic or Pharmaceutical science (or equivalent / similar) * Experience in Formulation Development, preferably in Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics or other Skin Care products * Excellent verbal, written and numerical skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team In return our client is offering a competitive basic salary (salary is negotiable and dependent on experience) plus benefits for the successful Candidate Please send your C.V to Lorraine Roger, Director at Atom Recruitment Ltd
