• Ensuring the efficient organisation of systems integration or development services within department, making best use of capacity to deliver activity within the terms of the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and with cost-effective utilisation of staff and non-pay resources.
• Developing and maintaining in-depth specialist knowledge of the relevant programming languages and methodologies as appropriate to deliver the Trust strategy.
• Designing, developing, coding, debugging and supporting the trust messaging platforms.
• Developing interface specifications and reviewing vendor specifications in line with objectives or business requirements.
• Proactively identifying risks and issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Relevant IT Degree or equivalent knowledge and relevant experience in specialty.

Desirable criteria

• InterSystems HealthShare training / certification.
• SQL training / certification.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Understanding and experience of full software development life cycle.
• Ability to analyse and break-down complex requirements into manageable tasks.
• Knowledge and understanding of the concepts of healthcare system integration, including messaging standards such as HL7, XML, JSON and HL7 FHIR.

Desirable criteria

• Understanding of Information Governance, IT Security and confidentiality.
• Knowledge and understanding of the NHS and Healthcare IT.

Experience

Essential criteria

• Strong experience of systems integration across a mixed computing environment.
• Experience developing in an object-oriented coding language and experience of using SQL to interrogate relational databases.
• Experience of using messaging and middleware platforms to manage data flow between software applications.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of working in a large organisation with a wide range of staffing levels and being able to liaise with level from Administrative Staff to Senior Managers.
• Experience of working within an NHS IT Department environment and liaising with Third Party Suppliers.
• Experience of working with HL7 messaging.
• Experience of using InterSystems HealthShare to build and maintain system-to-system interfaces.
