Pharmacy Dispenser Additional Information Location: Essex Salary: £18,000 - £20,000 Hours: Monday to Friday (Rotating shifts) 8am-4.30pm 9.30am-6pm 11.30am- 8pm Job Type: Permanent To dispense medication for our patients, following good dispensing practice and relevant guidelines in accordance with the GPhC code of ethics. Dispensers are vital to supply medication to our patients, so this is an essential role within the company. Key Responsibilities GENERAL * Is numerate and literate * Sufficient levels of physical fitness and strength for moving cages and lifting boxes * Is able to apply Health & Safety regulations to working practices * Is able to complete documentation as required by company procedures and regulatory standards * Is aware of all relevant systems and procedures * Is aware of all relevant environmental controls * Participate in dispensing Unit staff meetings as required * Good telephone manner * Undertake any other duties as required by the Dispensing Operations Manager GOODS RECEIPT * Able to check off goods received efficiently and accurately * Is able to locate goods received appropriately (quarantining if required following the necessary procedure) PICKING PRODUCTS * Able to pick items efficiently, accurately and check own work for errors * Able to identify erroneous components on an order * Is able to ensure effective stock rotation * Able to ensure products picked have an acceptable shelf life DISPENSING * Working knowledge of GPhC regulations on valid prescriptions * Working knowledge of GPhC regulations on dispensing practices (i.e. labelling, storage, hygiene requirements) * Is able to interpret prescriptions efficiently and accurately * Able to dispense be organised and neat when dispensing whilst maintaining line clearance * Able to work within own limitations and ask questions when unsure about any element of the dispensing process * Predominantly dispense Low Tech therapies and minimal Hi Tech therapies as required, exclusive of Oncology * Undertake and gain NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services award Qualifications, Training & Experience Education GCSE English & Maths or equivalent Dispensing Assistant qualification (NVQ Level 2) Experience Dispensing experience in a high turnover dispensary Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy Working knowledge of GPhC guidelines Skills Competent in the use of Microsoft Word & Excel Effective written & verbal communicator Excellent telephone manner Excellent attention to detail Ability to be focused and meet tight deadlines
