Job Purpose

To join our team offering day to day support of desktop applications and IT systems across all our UK sites, primarily based in Sandy.

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and be customer focussed. As the only IT engineer permanently based at Sandy daily tasks will be highly varied from deskside and basic 3 Line Support to project work.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your IT skills and knowledge in a hands on environment, across a wide range of technologies, supported by your colleagues in the wider team. The ability to work under own initiative and with people at all levels is essential.

Current driving license is required as on-site support may be required at unsociable times of the day or night, there may also be requirements to travel to other sites.

Working hours will be a standard 40 hour week. Additional working hours may be required in the run up to peak trading times (Christmas, Valentine's, Mother's Day and Easter) and where essential out of hour’s maintenance is required on site. Out of Hours support will be required on a rota basis, an allowance will be paid for out of hours support.

General Areas of Responsibility

  • Work within IT Systems Policies and Procedures
  • Ensuring helpdesk requests are resolved in a timely manner and to agreed SLAs
  • Maintenance of daily backup processes
  • Supporting Microsoft Desktop & Server Operating Systems
  • Monitoring and supporting a Windows 2016 Hyper-V environment
  • Desktop software maintenance including software installations, patching and upgrades
  • Hardware and Software auditing
  • Hardware support of desktops and laptops
  • Hardware support for various printer types (including thermal printers)
  • Troubleshooting of network issues
  • Responding to critical out of hours support issues
  • Planning and relocating IT equipment requirements for different trading periods

Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of troubleshooting Microsoft desktop operating systems
  • Experience of troubleshooting Microsoft Office applications especially Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting networked devices (PC’s, Laptops, printers etc)
  • Good knowledge of Office365 administration and management
  • Basic understanding of networking, (LAN WLAN and WAN infrastructure)

Whilst not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Good understanding of a Windows Server environment
  • Basic knowledge of SQL administration / backup processes
