A fantastic opportunity is available for a Healthcare Assistant to join one of Birmingham?s leading home-care providers. Based in Kings Norton, the successful Healthcare Assistant will join the care team earning a week day rate of £8.75 per hour and a weekend rate of £9.50, plus travel expenses. Using person centred planning, Clarence Care provides a tailored care service based on each user?s needs. The company not only prioritises the needs of it?s clients, but it also it?s employees. Clarence Care aids it?s Healthcare Assistants through an effective management structure, that provides support and training throughout their employment. The primary duties of the successful Healthcare Assistant will include: * To provide personal care for service users with a wide range of needs, illnesses and disabilities. Assisting with medication where necessary, as detailed in their Medication Care Needs Assessment, and operating manual handling equipment safely and correctly * Implementing a person centred approach, focussing on each individual?s physical, emotional, cultural and social needs * To observe and promote the client?s choice, independence, dignity, privacy and fulfilment * Using effective communication skills to provide companionship and maintain good professional relationships with clients, their families, friends and other stakeholders * Encouraging service users to maintain contact with family and friends, in turn promoting independence * Undertaking light household duties detailed in the care plan, including cleaning, laundry and food preparation, whilst being aware of the client?s choice, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements * To contribute to the care plans of service users by regularly feeding back to the Care Coordinator In addition, the following key skills and experience are essential: * A minimum of 1 year?s experience in a similar role that met service user?s needs, fostered effective relationships and required accurate information recording (NVQ level 2 or above preferred) * A full UK Drivers license * Working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, good care principles and an understanding of safeguarding adults at risk * Understanding of domiciliary care regulations and legislation and the needs of domiciliary care service users * Excellent communication skills and the ability to actively listen to others * Good planning, organisational and teamwork skills This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
