Job summary

The Ministry of Defence, Civil Service workforce isdiverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff to support the British Army.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the Defence driving licence acquisition and testing is managed in line with the Defence Safety Authoritys Driver Licence Acquisition and associated Training Manual and to ensure that the integrity of all driver theory and practical tests is maintained.

Job description

Responsible to the Driving Licence and Testing Authority (DeLTA) Supervisor for the assurance and management of Defence Driving Examiners (including check tests, Continuous Professional Development&Examiner Driver Development), test routes, Theory Test Invigilators, and In House Theory Test Centres.

Ensure the daily management of the test centre and workforce is effective, efficient, safe, and compliant, and complete the appropriate corrective action as required.

Point of Contact for Contract Driver Training management, planning, testing, and assurance requirements.

Ensure all test (theory and practical) applications meet and comply with legislation, MOD policy, and regulations.

Be prepared to consult with, support, and provide reports&information to internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency, Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency, Defence Land Safety Regulator, DeLTA Supervisor and Defence School of Transport.

Person specification

Essential Skills, Experience&Qualifications Required:
  • Be a qualified, experienced Driving Examiner, having completed a recognised course.
  • Excellent time keeping skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Able to proactively manage workloads and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Able to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Communicate information clearly and effectively, both verbally and written.

Desirable Skills, Experience&Qualifications Required:
  • Previous experience of LAT supervision in the MOD.
  • Hold a UK issued photocard driving license with Full Category D (Coach) entitlement for a minimum of 3 months (no restrictions i.e. Code 102)

Documentary evidence of licenses held will be required at interview.

If not already held, the you will be required to undertake and pass the Defence Driving Examiner course within 6 months of taking up post.

Licences
Must hold a UK issued photocard driving licence with Full Category B entitlement for a minimum of 3 years with:
a. No serious endorsements (no more than 3 current penalty points).
b. No serious convictions (drinking and driving) in the last 4 years (ie. 4 years from the last termination point of any ban).
Must have held a UK issued photocard driving licence with Full Category C entitlement for a minimum of 3 years.
Must have held a UK issued photocard driving licence with Full Category C+E entitlement for a minimum of 3 months(with no restrictions ie. Code 102).
