Mechanical Fitter Bognor Regis, West Sussex | Permanent 39-hour week (Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm, Friday 7:30am-12:30pm) |£19.50/hour I'm recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK machine builder specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke automation and special purpose machinery supplied to customers worldwide. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Fitter to their engineering team.The Role This is a hands-on, workshop-based position focused on the mechanical build of custom-built machinery, from sub-assembly through to final build and test. Key responsibilities include: Mechanical assembly of special purpose machinery from engineering drawings Building frames, guards, rollers, shafts, bearings and mechanical assembliesSetting and aligning components to specification Basic pneumatic fitting (cylinders, valves, pipework - training available) Operating CNC machinery for basic component modification or manufacture (where required) Supporting machine build, testing and fault-finding in-house Safe use of workshop equipment including forklifts for material handling and movementThe Ideal Candidate Proven experience in a manufacturing environment as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role Experience operating CNC machinery (milling/turning advantageous) Valid forklift licence (or previous experience operating forklifts) Confident reading and interpreting mechanical drawingsPractical, methodical approach with strong attention to detail Comfortable working independently and as part of a small engineering team Apprenticeship or formal mechanical training advantageous What's on Offer Permanent role with a stable, engineering-led business 39-hour working week (day shift)Varied work - no repetitive production-line fitting Overtime available Long-term opportunity with scope for development WR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing&technical sales jobs.
