Shift Engineer (Temp to Perm) Location: Westhoughton BL5 Salary:£42,500 + Benefits Shift Pattern: Days | 39 hours per week Contract: Temporary to Permanent We are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting production through effective maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement of site machinery and equipment.This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer looking for long-term stability, development, and the opportunity to secure a permanent position within a well-established business. The Role As a Shift Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring machinery and production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Working closely with production teams, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across the site.Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipment Respond quickly and effectively to machinery breakdowns to minimise downtime Diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults Support continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability and production efficiencyWork closely with operations teams to identify and resolve recurring issues Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and documented accurately Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and improvement works when required About You To be successful in this role, you will have:Proven experience working as a multi-skilled maintenance or shift engineer within a manufacturing or production environment Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills Food industry experience Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting ability The ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions under pressureA proactive mindset with a focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement Highly Desirable Experience Experience using any of the following systems would be highly advantageous: Shire Piranha Frontline Whats on Offer£42,500 salary 39-hour day shift pattern Temporary to permanent opportunity25 days annual leave + bank holidays Christmas shutdown Regular overtime available for a minimum of 10 weeks per year, paid at time and a half Full onboarding, training, and ongoing engineering support Opportunity to join a supportive team with long-term career prospects This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, working with modern production equipment, and being part of a business that invests in its people and engineering function.TPBN1_UKTJ
