Position: Housekeeping Assistant

Location: Astbury Manor Care Home, Berkshire

Working Hours: 8:00 – 16:00, 4 days a week (including weekends)

The role involves maintaining cleanliness, laundry and overall hygiene standards across the home in accordance with the organisation’s standard operating procedures.

• Carry out all cleaning duties in line with worksheet instructions.
• Understand the cleaning requirements of different surfaces and coverings and the properties of cleaning materials to ensure all areas are well presented and in good condition.
• Maintain hotel service standards for cleanliness and laundry throughout the home.
• Ensure that residents are treated with dignity and respect and that their personal space and belongings are always respected.
• Support other housekeeping and laundry tasks as required and cover a range of responsibilities on short notice.
• Follow Health & Safety, fire safety, COSHH, and moving‑and‑handling procedures at all times.

• Knowledge of Health & Safety, particularly moving‐and‐handling techniques, fire safety and COSHH assessments.
• Experience in cleaning and laundry in a public or care setting.
• Demonstrated compassion and commitment to delivering high‑quality housekeeping/laundry services to residents.
• Adaptable and flexible, able to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

• ADBS Disclosure check – cost covered by Avery Healthcare.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
• Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
