Sous Chef, Buntingford

We are looking for a creative and motivated Sous Chef to join a small, talented kitchen team. In this position you will act as the second in command in the kitchen, following and enforcing our Head Chef?s requirements and guidelines. The ideal candidate is a creative professional who is willing to participate in creating consistently delicious seasonal menus and meal designs. You should have excellent communication skills with in-depth knowledge of cooking fresh food, ingredients, equipment and processes. Responsibilities: * Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs. * Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner. * Monitor and record inventory, and if necessary, order new supplies. * Provide support to junior kitchen staff with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating. * Train new and existing kitchen staff accurately in safe practices, recipes and methods * Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations. * Manage the kitchen team in the head chef's absence. Requirements: * Must have access to a car due to rural location * Level 2/3 in Health and Safety and food safety * experience in a similar role. * Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices. * Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Accountable for COSHH, Food Safety, H&S, legal regulations, environmental policies and duty of care to customers and colleagues
