Service Manager, Social Work, Halifax

An excellent opportunity for a highly experienced Social Work Service Manager has recently become available within Calderdale Council?s Placements Department, as part of the Children & Young Peoples Services. This is initially a 3 month temporary assignment, working 37 hours per week. As a Service Manager within the Placements Department, you will be responsible for managing Residential Services, Fostering and Adoption Services and the Care Leavers Service. Duties & Responsibilities: * Direct line management responsibility for Locality Managers, Practise Supervisors, Advanced Practitioners, Placement Managers, Unit Managers and Social Workers * Making strategic decisions and making recommendations to the Head of Service and Group Director of Children & Young People?s Services * Ensuring that all appropriate mechanisms, policies and procedures are developed and implemented within the Service * Ensuring that services are in place to protect children and young people across Calderdale and that safeguarding duties and responsibilities are effectively fulfilled * Making decisions on professional operational matters within the scheme of delegation, including workload allocation The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years post qualifying experience of working within Children?s Social Services, including 2 years Social Work Management experience.
