OHL Design Engineer, Driffield

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Lead the development of preliminary and detailed designs for overhead line projects, including associated equipment such as foundations, conductors, conductor systems, and structural elements
• Prepare, check, and submit design documentation including Design Intent Documents, Design Criteria Reports, and analysis reports, with supporting calculations
• Record and manage design data and decisions
• Work alongside and support senior engineering staff
• Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, particularly Health & Safety and CDM regulations
• Review engineering documentation for feasibility and compliance with client requirements, supporting accurate project budgeting
• Ensure designs and construction practices align with current legislation, policies, and operational requirements
• Review method statements and risk assessments, liaise with construction teams, and support implementation of designs throughout project stages
• Mentor junior engineers
• Collaborate across teams and offices to deliver integrated solutions
• Support development of internal policies, procedures, and QA systems
• Undertake additional duties as required by management
• Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits requiring adherence to health and safety procedures

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
• A-level (or equivalent) in Mathematics
• Working towards or interested in professional membership (e.g. relevant engineering institutions)

Experience

• Around 2+ years' post-graduate industry experience
• Familiarity with industry software (e.g. overhead line design tools or similar)
• Working knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
