Occupational Health Physician, Sellafield

Who we are looking for: Sellafield Ltd is recruiting an Occupational Health Physician to join our highly regarded Occupational Health Team. The Occupational Health Department at Sellafield plays a fundamental role in providing occupational healthcare to Sellafield Ltd and its employees. The team provides a range of Occupational Health Services and your remit will include many aspects of occupational health and also initial medical response to a radiation incident. Excellent communication skills and computer literacy are very important. In addition, you must be able to work both alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. About the role The role of the Occupational Physician for Sellafield Ltd is to provide expert Occupational Medicine advice to employees, line managers and human resources and provide a lead role for management of occupational health issues referred to the OH department. The Occupational Physician maintains knowledge and skills in general aspects of occupational medicine and specific expertise in the management of radiological decontamination and advice. Responsibilities: * Responding appropriately in compliance with professional standards to individual, management or human resource requests for occupational health advice. * Maintaining professional standards and appropriate skills in accordance with statutory and professional guidance. * Management of specific clinical issues or service contracts in accordance with department plan. Accountabilities: * To the Head of Occupational Health for ensuring that all relevant health legislative requirements and standards are fulfilled to appropriate professional standards * To the Head of Occupational Health for ensuring that improvements are appropriately identified and delivered. * To the referring manager or human resources manager ensuring that OH reports are delivered in a timely manner and appropriate professional standards. * To the General Medical Council to ensure that registration and license to practice are maintained and in compliance with professional standards. * To the Health and Safety Executive to comply and maintain appointed status under statute and guidance. Authorities: * To ensure that all legislative requirements and standards for Occupational Health Physicians are complied with. * To assist in training and maintenance of competence of the Occupational Health team. * To assist the Head of Occupational Health in the management of the department. * To assist and ensure compliance with the financial management of the department to maintain budget control * To manage specific areas of responsibility for major projects, contracts or specialized area of expertise. Essential Skills * Fully registered Medical Practitioner in the UK with a licence to practice and o the Health and Safety Executive to comply and maintain appointed status under statute and guidance. * Full UK Driving Licence. * Computer literate. * Excellent Communication Skills including good consultation and active listening skills. * Good team worker. * Must take full part in medical emergency response hence there is a continuing requirement to be able to be deployed in all areas, including radiation and contamination areas. * Medically fit to wear all site PPE.
