International Pharmaceutical Manufacturer requires an experienced Project Manager. About the role: The post-holder is accountable to the Head of PMO and responsible for the delivery of assigned New Product Development (NPD) projects. The post-holder must have the ability to digest complex project information from various sources, reassess and effectively advise stakeholders on project strategy and approach while taking account of budgetary constraints, conflicting priorities and the business goals. The post holder is expected to identify and effectively manage project risks. The post-holder must identify business risks & demonstrate they are effectively managed. The post holder is expected to continuously review and re-assess high level project deliverables which have conflicting priorities & resources.Duties may include: Responsible for managing assigned projects to approved budget and timelines. Manage 3 - 5 projects of medium to high complexity at any point in time. Typical project duration of 6 - 60 months. Effectively apply project management methodology to delivery of assigned projects. Generate appropriate project initiation documentation and business cases which will be required to obtain project approval. Ensure project scope and milestones are clearly defined and agreed prior to project approval. Manage day to day operation and control of all assigned projects. Manage scope creep and ensure project milestone adherence is maintained at greater than 90%. Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing business needs and priorities. Manage project risks and issues and minimise overall risk exposure. Utilise the escalation process where necessary. Provide regular project updates to stakeholders via project sponsor, monthly reports, visual boards and at project governance meetings. Manage project resource. Highlight in advance expected periods of peak demand to ensure appropriate resourcing is assigned to project. Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately on the shared drive. Contribute to improving and promoting project management process and toolkit as well as promoting a consistent approach to project management across site. The post holder will be an excellent communicator across all levels within and outside the company. Correspondence will take the form of both written & oral methods, presentations, graphs and reports. Ensure all projects have an up to date Business case, Charter, 4-up chart, Gantt chart, risk and issues register that clearly reflect the exact state of the project. Hold regular prescheduled project team meetings. Manage cross functional interaction within projects. Escalate project risks and issues in a timely manner to ensure conflicting priorities and/or unforeseen barriers are highlighted and resolved. Keep project team informed of changes within the organisation that may impact on project activities. Tactful communication of difficult / sensitive information. Deliver engaging, informative, well-organised presentations. Good knowledge and demonstrable experience managing New Product Development (NPD) projects in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector. Maintain awareness of new and emerging project management processes, techniques and tools. Drive excellence in project management. Generate business case and confirm financial benefits. Financial accountability to ensure project costs are managed and benefits are reported accurately. Accountability to deliver return on investment is essential to this role. Manage budget for assigned project. Expected to manage project budgets of up to £5m. Control and report major expenditures and escalate deviations. Manage and achieve project benefits including reporting on financial issues such as return on investment. Provide regular support to project team members regarding project management documentation and tools in accordance with project management methodology. Mentor and coach less experienced project managers within the PMO. Responsible for a minimum of 2 local initiatives per annum within the department. Responsible for preparation, maintenance and security of all project information and documentation. Skills and experience: Good project management skills and the ability to use standard project management tools. Professional certification (e.g. Prince 2 practitioner, PMP etc.). Qualified to degree level or equivalent. Experience gained managing NPD projects in a Pharmaceutical or Biologics environment. Project management experience with at least 3 years managing projects of medium to high complexity. Excellent persuasive and communication skills suitable for interacting with cross functional teams and stakeholders. Strong leadership and decision-making capability
