Information Technology Manager, Bristol BS10
Description

IT Manager

Location: Bristol (Hybrid)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: CEO | Direct reports: IT Support Analysts (small team, growing)
Salary: Competitive + Benefits

About the role

We’re looking for a hands-on IT Manager to keep our technology estate secure, reliable, and running smoothly day-to-day—while helping shape our longer-term tech strategy. You’ll lead a small but growing team, take ownership of core IT operations, and partner with leaders across the business to make sure colleagues have the tools and support they need to deliver for our patients and partners.

What you’ll do

Run stable, secure operations

  • Own uptime, performance and security of devices, networks, servers, cloud services and business apps.
  • Manage the IT service desk (incidents, requests, problems) with a focus on SLAs, first-time-fix and colleague satisfaction.
  • Deliver patching, vulnerability remediation and endpoint management (MDM/AV/EDR).
  • Maintain strong identity and access management (SSO, MFA, least privilege).

Deliver change and improvement

  • Plan and deliver IT projects (rollouts, upgrades, SaaS adoption, device refreshes).
  • Standardise and improve ITIL processes (Incident, Request, Problem, Change).
  • Own asset and license management, ensuring clean audits and cost control.

Security, risk and compliance

  • Maintain core IT/security policies.
  • Oversee backups, restore testing and DR exercises.
  • Monitor threats, coordinate incident response, and drive post-incident reviews.
  • Support audits and compliance needs (NHS/healthcare, GDPR, Cyber Essentials/ISO 27001).

Partner the business

  • Act as escalation point for priority incidents and exec stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into secure, sensible technology solutions.
  • Manage key vendors/MSPs, negotiate service levels and ensure value for money.
  • Produce clear reporting on performance, risks and upcoming changes.

What success looks like

  • Service reliability: Core systems consistently meet performance and availability targets.
  • Great support experience: SLA attainment >X%, CSAT >X.X/5, FTF >X%.
  • Security posture: Patching >XX% within policy; MFA coverage 100%.
  • Change without surprises: On-time, on-budget project delivery with zero major incidents.
  • Cost control: Accurate asset/licence inventory with savings identified and delivered.

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Proven experience in a hands-on IT Manager / Head of IT / Senior Systems role in a high-availability environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Entra ID, Intune, Windows endpoints (Linux a plus), and SaaS admin.
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewalls).
  • Security best practice: MFA, least privilege, patching, EDR/AV, backups/DR.
  • ITIL service-desk leadership (Jira, Freshservice, Zendesk, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills—calm, clear and credible during incidents.
  • Vendor/MSP management and budgeting experience.

Desirable

  • Healthcare, pharmacy or other regulated industry background.
  • Exposure to Cyber Essentials/ISO 27001.
  • Scripting/automation (PowerShell).
  • Experience with line-of-business systems and integrations (ERP/PMS/WMS/robotics).
  • Project management certification or equivalent track record.

Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft 365/Azure, Network+, Security+, ITIL Foundation) welcome. Equivalent experience considered.

How we work

  • Hybrid working: Bristol HQ + home, with on-site presence for key meetings and changes.
  • Out-of-hours/on-call rota for priority incidents and maintenance windows.
  • Commitment to patient safety, data protection and continuous improvement.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Real scope to shape IT processes, tools and roadmap.
  • Supportive culture and meaningful mission—making healthcare safer and simpler.

Equal opportunities

We’re an equal opportunities employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all colleagues.
