Gaming/Gambling Related Harms Prevention (GRHP) Community Engagement Worker
Location and Hours:
Part time: 16 – 24 hours per week across 3 roles. 3–4 days a week depending on hours.
Flexible working with some evening/weekend work based on when eligible community groups meet.
Salary: £26,500 pro rata/FTE (£13.73 per hour) plus reimbursement for mileage/public transport expenses up to an agreed limit.
Contract: 2‑year fixed term, with potential for extension if funding is secured or alternative opportunities arise.
Location: Community‑based venues across Dudley Borough and the City of Wolverhampton, with home working. Occasional attendance at the Dudley office may be required during induction and training.
Start date: Within the next 2 months (date confirmed during recruitment).
Role PurposeThis role is part of an exciting new project focused on raising awareness of the harms associated with gaming and gambling through community‑based interventions with young people and adults, delivered in partnership with Citizen’s Advice, specialist organisations, people with lived experience of GRH, and an academic partner.
The Community Engagement Worker delivers prevention and early intervention presentations to raise awareness of gaming and gambling related harms among at‑risk community groups, aiming to reduce health inequalities by improving proactive access to support and treatment services.
About The RoleThe post comprises paid and volunteer community workers delivering specially designed presentations to young people and adult groups across Dudley Borough and the City of Wolverhampton. During the initial two years, the role focuses on engaging with and delivering pre‑prepared, stand‑up presentations to communities at increased risk of gambling‑related harm, particularly in areas of higher deprivation and other vulnerable groups.
Responsibilities- Deliver multiple sessions per week to groups of up to 10 people.
- Present expert‑led presentations on gaming and gambling harms.
- Engage communities to raise awareness and provide information on accessing further support.
- Personal or professional experience of gaming/gambling related harms and/or supporting someone with lived experience.
- Enjoy standing up and presenting to both young people and adults.
- Be charismatic and engaging in delivery.
- Be empathetic and compassionate.
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, undertaken and funded by the employer, confirming suitability to work with children/young people and vulnerable adults in the community.
