The Imaging Department at Addenbrooke's Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) is recruiting for an Imaging Porter. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Portering team.

Main Duties
  • Transport patients to and from imaging departments such as CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and X‑ray.
  • Welcome and transport patients in beds and chairs to and from the department in a friendly and safe manner while maintaining privacy and dignity.
  • Coordinate transport of patients using the CARPS booking system.
  • Communicate effectively with radiographers, technicians, radiologists, reception staff, wards, clinics, and clinicians to ensure appointments are coordinated efficiently.
  • Ensure patients arrive in the department with appropriate equipment and documentation.
  • Use bed mover equipment safely and report faults or breakdowns promptly.
Qualifications
  • Good standard in English and Mathematics.
Experience
  • Experience in communicating with people face‑to‑face and via telephone.
  • Experience with computer databases.
  • Experience in portering services within the NHS.
  • Experience working in a caring environment.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues.
  • Basic knowledge of the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the eHospital system.
  • Knowledge of radiology or radiation safety issues.
  • Knowledge of infection control.
Skills
  • Motivated to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, using initiative.
  • Can manage and prioritise own time/work.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Flexible in relation to working hours.
  • Ability to switch between tasks.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to understand and behave at all times towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of Safe, Kind, Excellent.
Eligibility

This position is subject to Home Office immigration rules. Individuals on a Student visa cannot be offered a full‑time permanent contract unless they have a Graduate visa, have completed their course and applied for a Graduate visa before employment, or have the Trust’s agreement to sponsor them as a Skilled Worker within 3 months of the start date.
