Apprentice - Sc. Metalwork Apprentice, Bridge

Overview

Scenic Metalwork Apprentice – a fixed‑term apprenticeship lasting two years, starting September 2026.

The role is based at High House Production Workshop, Purfleet Essex, 42.5 hours per week.

Salary: £28,089.10 per annum for 42.5 hours per week.

The apprenticeship is under the Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard, with study provided by South Essex College.

Apprentices will work at the Royal Opera House and gain practical skills in metalworking for stage sets.

Responsibilities

Develop specialist metalworking skills.

Work with tools, engineering, and craftsmanship to construct stage sets from scratch.

Attend training and study sessions alongside the College Training Provider.

Eligibility

• You must be 18 years old or over by 7 September 2026.
• You must have work authorisation for the UK.
• You must have ordinarily resided in the United Kingdom for at least the three consecutive years prior to the start of the programme.
• You must not have completed a degree or equivalent level qualification in the UK or elsewhere.
• You must not have over six months of experience working in a similar role.

Apprenticeship Details

The apprentice will be paid at the National Living Wage, rising by 2.5% after the first year. College fees will be paid by the Royal Ballet and Opera, and trainees are expected to cover travel to work and college.
