Software Engineer, Cardiff

Software Engineer (Tooler) ? PHP / Python / Go, Linux, AWS ? Cardiff - £30,000 Great opportunity to join my client based in Cardiff, they?re an award-winning digital agency, offering websites and software applications to the sports industry. Partnered with some of the biggest names in sport, since the early 2000?s & delivering cutting edge online experience for sports fans. COVID-19 and Working from Home Throughout lockdown they have been working from home, although this position is primarily office-based so you will be expected to be local to the office. Though after restrictions are lifted part-remote could be considered. The Role The core responsibility of the role will be to produce internal software for the Engineering teams as they transition themselves and their services for future projects. The software will be focused on easing the development, use, and monitoring of the software built by the engineering team and may include testing frameworks, monitoring integrations, configuration tooling, and more. Your Duties: Work individually and with teams to identify and build opportunities to the software development lifecycle. Maintain & improve any tools currently in use Proactively keep up to date with publicly available software offerings to help guide decision- makingRequirements: Experience in one or more OOP languages, i.e. PHP, Python, Go Have experience in large-scale cloud infrastructure platforms - AWS or other have experience of Docker and creating basic Dockerfiles have experience of Linux and be comfortable working on the Linux command lineDesirable knowledge or experience PHP testing and profiling ? PHPUnit, Blackfire, etc GitLab-CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc At least one scripting language ? Python, Bash, etcThe position will be supported by strong software and infrastructure engineers and the successful applicant will participate in conversations on all levels of the software lifecycle, from concept through to everyday use.
