Teaching Assistant (1:1 ALN Support), Cardiff

A vibrant and inclusive primary school in the CF11 area is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The school caters for children aged 3–11, including nursery, and has a warm, multicultural community of over 300 pupils.

This role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with ALN, helping them access learning and fully engage in school life. You will work closely with the class teacher and additional support staff to deliver a tailored and nurturing learning experience, adapting approaches to meet the individual needs of the child.

• Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Additional Learning Needs
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities
• Support emotional, social, and behavioural developmentWork collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and external professionals
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
• Contribute to planning and evaluating individual support strategies

• Is patient, caring, and resilient
• Has experience supporting children with ALN or additional needs
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Has a good understanding of child development
• Can adapt to meet individual learning styles and needs
• Works well as part of a team and shows initiative
• Has strong literacy, numeracy, and basic IT skills

• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
• Enhanced DBS check
