Data Scientist Lead, Cheltenham

Synchro are currently working exclusively on site with a household brand in Cheltenham and recruiting on their behalf for a Data Scientist Lead to join the team. As part of our clients new and exciting data journey, we need a talented, insightful and data driven individual to advance our Data Science capabilities and add a further level of intelligence to our existing Business Intelligence team. The data science team supports the business by surfacing up and analysing various data sets relating to core transactional systems. AWS is the platform of choice and hosts their websites and analytics infrastructure. Our client use Redshift and many of the AWS toolkit options available to facilitate the ETL of data into Redshift and the data is modelled and presented using Looker as their presentation layer. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead from the front, have strategic input into data science as well as being creative and bringing new ideas to fruition. Responsibilities: · Prepare datasets ready for analysis · Contribute to new data source design in order to meet use cases · Combine the use of statistics, analytics and machine learning with your business acumen to influence management decisions and evolve our client's analytics platform to the next level · Carry out statistical analysis over varied data sets · Configure and apply machine learning algorithms in various analytical and commercial contexts · Support the creation of insight to drive commercial decision making through our clients reporting platform · Gain exposure and use Jupyter notebooks using AWS to apply machine learningThe ideal candidate will have: Comfortable using AWS as well as big data tools Confident with a comprehensive statistical analysis package such as R for example Able to apply regression techniques to demonstrate relationships in data allowing for tangible insight to be gleaned and used in decision making Capable of applying machine learning algorithms to various problems.
