The Adult Autism Service is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic part‑time Band 6 specialist in nursing, occupational therapy, or speech and language therapy to support diagnostic and assessment services for adults who may need an autism assessment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for conducting assessments, gathering and coordinating information to determine whether a person has an autism diagnosis and what relevant traits affect them. They will also educate, advise, and consult with the wider workforce and agencies to improve services for autistic people, using a range of communication platforms.

While the official base is at Eastway, the role offers hybrid working with face‑to‑face assessments and follow‑up appointments at Macclesfield’s Autism Hub. Workshops will be delivered across the CWP footprint (Wirral, Cheshire West and Cheshire East). Interviews will be held in Macclesfield.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse, Registered qualified Occupational Therapist, or Registered Speech and Language Therapist
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional training
• Degree in a healthcare field

Knowledge

• Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate care for clients and carers
• Support clients in crisis situations
• Chair meetings and lead a team
• Deliver training to other professionals and services
• Experience in quality improvement initiatives
• Manage conflict situations to amicable resolution
• Confidence and experience in managing potentially challenging situations

Experience

• Post‑qualifying experience working with adults with autism
• Direct experience with clients having complex needs, including multiple co‑morbidities
• Use of assessments to identify needs
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
