Product Design Engineer, North West

A growing technology company is looking for a freelance design engineer to support the development and production scaling of innovative consumer products.

This is a North West UK-based, part-time contract, Outside IR35 with a competitive hourly rate. The successful applicant will be working with a small multidisciplinary team across concept development, prototyping, supplier coordination, and manufacturing readiness.

• Develop and refine product and packaging concepts for manufacture
• Produce CAD models, technical drawings, and prototype specifications
• Support testing and production integration activities
• Coordinate suppliers and partners
• Assist with tooling, assembly methods, and production process improvements
• Help transition products from prototype through manufacture to scaled production

• Background in product design, mechanical engineering, or packaging development
• Experience working with manufacturers and production environments
• Strong Solidworks experience
• Understanding of DFM and manufacturing processes
• Practical hands-on prototyping and problem-solving ability
