They support applications across automotive auxiliary systems, telecoms backup power, mobility, industrial equipment, and specialist battery-powered systems.This is a close-knit SME environment where engineers are heavily involved in the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through to testing and production support. The role You will help transform electronic schematics and concepts into fully functioning prototype devices, combining electronics assembly, wiring, and mechanical integration.This is a highly practical, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working directly with hardware and solving engineering problems. Key responsibilities: Build and assemble electronic prototypes from schematics and BOMs Carry out PCB assembly, soldering, rework, and modification including SMT/SMD componentsDesign and implement internal wiring layouts and harness assemblies Integrate electronic assemblies into enclosures and prototype housings Support light mechanical fabrication and assembly work Troubleshoot and resolve prototype build issues Maintain build, inspection, and test documentationWhat were looking for: Strong soldering and PCB assembly skills including SMT/SMD work Experience with PCB rework, repair, and prototype builds Ability to read circuit diagrams and technical drawings Hands-on mechanical assembly and enclosure integration experience Experience with wiring and harnessingStrong troubleshooting and fault-finding ability Practical, detail-oriented approach with high workmanship standards Desirable experience: IPC certification (e.g. IPC-A-610 CIS) Familiarity with IPC standards Experience within product development or electronics R&D environments Experience working with plastics, metals, or 3D-printed prototype parts Ideal background This role is particularly well suited to engineers from: Electronics manufacturing environments Prototype or R&D engineering teams Industrial electronics manufacturers Specialist engineering SMEs involved in hardware development Apply If youre a practical Electronic Prototype Engineer looking to work on real products within a collaborative engineering environment, apply now for a confidential discussion.Established in 1994, G&P Quality Management is a world-leading provider of quality management services to the manufacturing industry, primarily in the automotive, aerospace and off-highway sectors.
