Job Description:

Urmson Fire Specialists Ltd (USF) seek a driven Passive Fire Protection Engineer. We require a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the fire protection business, with suitable qualifications such as FSIDip, SSSTS, NVQ Level 2 Passive Fire Protection (min), FIRAS, and FDIS.

The role will be a mix of fire stopping, mainly remedial works and survey works.

UFS core business activities are fire and smoke damper testing and surveys, fire compartmentation surveys, fire door inspections, ventilation ductwork and kitchen extract cleaning. UFS has an extensive portfolio delivering major contracts to the NHS, hospitals, universities and facility management companies.

Job Role

· Undertake site inspections and surveys relating to passive fire protection such as fire stopping, facades, fire doors, cavity barriers, ductwork, fire dampers and fire-resistant coatings

· Take a hands-on and proactive approach to identifying defects and other non-compliances, photographing and reporting these using Boris software

· Ensure the passive fire protection within buildings is installed in accordance with certified details, fire test reports and manufacturers requirements

· Experience in installation / application of Intumescent coatings, firestopping systems, cavity barriers, structural boarding etc

· Remedial works

· Carry out other UFS services as and when required

Person Specification

· Min 3 years’ experience of surveying in the Passive Fire Protection industry

· Sound knowledge of BS: 9999:2017, HTM 05-02, HTM 05-03 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 regulations

· Good knowledge of firestopping products, installation methods and building regulations

· Proven ability to work methodically, follow agreed procedures and accurately record data

· Work on own initiative, and spot potential other works

· Experience of working in a customer-focused environment

· Use of BORIS

· Ability to accurately interpret technical data, drawings and instructions

· Ability to demonstrate organisational and time management skills

Cards / Qualifications: CSCS / NVQ in Passive Fire Protection / IPAF / FIRAS trained
Experience: 5 years’ experience in all aspects of Passive Fire Protection in all types of building
