Grosvenor Square Head Gardener, City of Westminster

Grosvenor Square Head Gardener, City of Westminster
Description

Grosvenor Square Garden (GSG) lies in the heart of our Mayfair Estate. The 6‑acre space celebrates its 300‑year anniversary in 2027 and is undergoing an extraordinary transformation, set to reopen in Summer2026. Led by Grosvenor, this multi‑million‑pound project is the most significant private investment in public green space in the West End for a generation, turning Grosvenor Square into a climate‑resilient, biodiverse urban garden.

The garden has been designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett and will feature a wider range of native and non‑native plants, a dynamic mosaic of wildflowers, ferns and woodland shrubs, and a large open garden with wild‑flowering lawn and social ovals. A Sustainable Drainage System ensures natural water drainage, protecting the square from flooding.

Key features include 70000 new plants, 44 new trees, 80000 bulbs and two new wetlands creating a wildlife haven; a new education building offering programmes funded by The Westminster Foundation; and enhanced public amenities such as a kiosk, public toilets and additional seating.
