Role: Contentious Probate Litigation Solicitor (NQ - 5+PQE)

We are recruiting a dedicated and experienced solicitor for a highly sought permanent position at a leading law firm.

The litigation team provides advice and assistance in dispute resolution and litigated cases, regularly handling matters in the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Report directly to Department Director
  • Professional pro‑active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients' needs
  • Responsible for all aspects of Contentious Probate Litigation work and, where appropriate, providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Manage appropriate caseload types and complexities
  • Assist with casework, including inheritance dependants act 1975 claims, proprietary estoppel claims, will disputes (challenging capacity, duress and forgery), removing executors for failure to administer the estate, devastavit claims
  • Undertake own advocacy
  • Attend clients, take instructions and prepare cases
  • Handle correspondence
  • Maintain accurate time‑costing procedures
  • Implement recommendations from supervisory monthly file reviews promptly
  • Ensure compliance with file management
Key Skills Required
  • Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive with 2‑4 years of proven experience in wills and probate law
  • Clean, valid practising certificate at time of application
  • Committed team player who adapts well to new challenges
  • Previous supervisory experience and ability to work to key performance indicators is an advantage
  • Pro‑active approach with excellent client care skills and ability to handle matters sensitively and resolve complicated practicalities
  • Excellent networking, communication and business development skills
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills
  • Own initiative and sound judgement
  • Working knowledge of publicly funded litigation work and ability to service privately funded cases
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage
  • Excellent IT skills – familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and document management
