In-House Industrial Battery Service Engineer

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are currently looking to recruit an experienced In-House Industrial Battery Service Engineer on a permanent basis, based at our warehouse in Market Harborough. The role would suit candidates with mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience, with salary dependent on knowledge and experience.

This role is primarily warehouse-based and will involve building, repairing, and testing industrial batteries and associated equipment, as well as managing customer returns and repairs.

Criteria:

• Physically fit (heavy lifting involved).
• Able to work on own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Flexible, adaptable, and dependable.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
• Knowledge of 2-volt cells, batteries, and battery chargers essential.
• Basic AC knowledge, with the ability to test AC circuits and set up/install battery chargers.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team or as a lone worker.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Carry out warehouse-based assembly of industrial batteries, including building battery packs from 2-volt cells.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to batteries, chargers, and related equipment.
• Set up, configure, and test battery chargers to ensure correct operation.
• Manufacture battery cables and connections as required.
• Receive customer returns, assess condition, and determine whether items can be repaired in-house or require return to the manufacturer.
• Respond to returns, carrying out fault diagnosis and repairs, submitting accurate reports via the Motivity reporting system.
• Ensure all returned goods are correctly labelled, documented, and logged in line with internal procedures.
• Communicate regularly with the service desk, providing clear and accurate updates.
• Work independently and safely, while maintaining effective communication with internal colleagues.
• Ensure all maintenance, repair, and assembly work is completed to agreed standards and technical specifications, with thorough testing and documentation.
• Comply with Health & Safety requirements, ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 standards, and Safe Contractor systems at all times.
