Job description
Business Continuity (BC) ensures the organisation maintains essential services during disruption or incidents. As an HEO Business Continuity (BC) Officer, you will support effective coordination, maintenance and continuous improvement of business continuity arrangements across the organisation, helping ensure essential services are maintained during disruption.
You will support, maintain and assure BC plans, business impact analyses (BIAs) and contingency arrangements aligned with departmental standards. You will work closely with colleagues across operational, digital and security teams to embed a strong resilience culture.
You will provide support during incident response, gathering information, preparing briefings and ensuring key actions are tracked and completed. You will also contribute to exercises, lesson-learnt processes and wider resilience activities.

- Support the maintenance and lifecycle of Business Continuity planning, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and guidance.
- Assist teams in completing and updating BIAs and BC plans, ensuring information is accurate, risk‑based and reviewed regularly.
- Monitor disruptions and support the preparation of reports and briefings for senior leaders.
- Maintain accurate records of BC activities, tests, exercises and disruptions.
- Work with digital, security and operational colleagues to ensure BC and contingency arrangements are joined‑up and effective.
- Support the delivery of BC exercises, ensuring outcomes, lessons and recommendations are captured and followed up.
- Promote awareness of BC responsibilities across the organisation.
- Act as a point of contact for day‑to‑day BC queries, escalating issues appropriately.
- Contribute to BC risk updates and support corporate reporting requirements.
- Track and support incident management processes, including improvement actions, escalating risks or delays as appropriate.
Essential Experience and Skills
