SEN Teaching Assistant - Team Teach Trained Full Time (Monday-Friday) Special Educational Needs Derby - September 2020 At Celsian Education we are currently working with a Special School in Derby who currently require an additional teaching assistant to join their successful team from ASAP until the end of the academic year. This is initially a temporary role, with the opportunity to then go onto a permanent contract. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs such as Autism and will have recently undertaken Team Teach training. We are looking for someone who is confident in managing challenging behaviours, defusing situations and making a calm and positive environment for students to progress in. You will be working with the class teacher and other members of support staff to ensure that each student receives the care required to cater for their unique needs. You must be able to build trusting and meaningful relationships with the students and ensure that they are engaged in learning and activities. Experience assisting non-verbal students using visual aids such as PECs and Makaton would be advantageous, but training can be provided.
