Senior Structural Engineer, Derby

The company Brewster Partners are currently recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer for our client based in Derbyshire. The job * To undertake the structural design of the building structure within the companies building system. * Responsibility for the preparation of structural calculations and sketch details sufficient to advise the engineering design team of structural requirements and to ensure compliance with relevant statutory regulations. * To undertake structural inspections of our product as necessary and advise on details. * To advise on and improve efficiency of the build through the development of innovative structural solutions. * Liaison with external structural designers related to the delivery of the full building project inclusive of foundations. * Key Responsibilities & Authority 1. To deliver compliant and efficient structural designs. 2. To promote quality, compliance and excellence in DfMA detailed design. 3. To ensure that all the information clearly and accurately communicates the information required by manufacturing to a level of detail that optimised delivery for the business. 4. To represent the business in design teams meetings in relation to structural matters. The person * Experience of working with Continuous Improvement systems * Be fluent in the design of structures in timber to BS EN 1995 * Have experience in the design of structural elements in other common building materials including light gauge steel * Have strong structural analytical ability to model building structures * Be able to deliver practical structural details * Excellent IT skills and knowledge * Knowledge of design software * Ability to demonstrate values * Understanding of building regulations, codes of practice, environmental and health and safety regulations * Good understanding of BIM and design automation * A proven track record in the delivery of project information * Good experience of offsite and / or timber frame production * Sound experience of the house building sector * Ability to work under strict timelines in a busy professional environment * Membership of MICE and / or MTStructE or nearing such status is desirable.
