An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly enthusiastic and energetic individual to join Ward 32 as a Ward Housekeeper. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to cover 22.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. The successful individual will need to work with the Ward leadership team to ensure that all facilities on the ward are conducive to a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role are supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of care within the ward environment by the delivery of nursing aspects of cleaning, catering and supplies management, together with other specified tasks to meet patients’ needs.
Main duties of the job- Assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward and kitchen areas in line with all relevant Trust guidelines and policies.
- Ensure orders are submitted to maintain sufficient stock levels at all times.
- Ensure the thorough cleanliness and tidiness of the ward beverage point and kitchen area, including equipment, is maintained at all times.
- Check and clean all ward refrigerators, including those in staff areas (but not drug fridges), disposing of any food not in date or not covered/labelled properly.
- Ensure records of checks and daily temperatures are recorded accurately. Inform Nurse in charge of any deviations or issues. Agree action plans and ensure action taken where necessary.

What we are looking for: An individual who has a flexible approach to their working day and focuses on supporting the clinical staff to assist in a smooth and efficient service for our patients.
Qualifications & Training- Numerate and literate.
- Communicates clearly in writing.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Evidence of development, skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Understanding of safe moving and handling practices.
- Can communicate verbally with others clearly and courteously.
- Polite, reliable, responsible.
- Able to work under own initiative within outlined duties.
- Able to prioritise outlined duties.
- Punctual and able to manage own time within outlined duties.
- Flexible – can adapt in cases of high clinical demand on the clinical teams/department (e.g. ad hoc errands).
- Understands how to maintain good working relationships.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the importance of cleaning.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH regulations, Infection Prevention control and Risk assessment.
- Give practical examples of safe practices.
- Understanding of effective stock control.
- Demonstrates understanding of the role outlined in the job description.
- Previous experience of professional cleaning, catering, portering services, working with the public (e.g. retail).
- Use of IT systems, e.g. teletracking, Datix.
