The Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated Pharmacist to join the Renal Team at Dorset County Hospital. You will work directly alongside Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Non‑Medical Prescribers, Pharmacy staff and the wider healthcare team.

• Act as a non‑medical prescriber
• Provide and oversee pharmacy services to the renal specialty
• Provide specialist pharmacy advice in renal medicine to consultants, junior medical staff, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, other healthcare professionals, patients and carers
• Liaise with speciality medical and nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, general managers, drug budget holders, pharmacy staff involved in medicine supply, medicines information pharmacists and regional and national colleagues regarding renal medicine
• Contribute to the wider healthcare community’s management of renal conditions, providing a link between pharmacy and renal services at Dorset County Hospital to patients and staff in primary care
• Participate in the training of medical, nursing, pharmacy, and other healthcare professionals on safe prescribing and administration of renal and general medications
• Lead, undertake and contribute to clinical governance focused on drugs used within renal medicine
• Co‑ordinate the use of high‑cost drugs within renal medicine
• Take responsibility for policy development and service improvement within renal medicine
• Participate in the late, weekend and bank holiday rota as required by the pharmacy department

The pharmacy team comprises Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers. You will be a highly valued member and mentor for Foundation Pharmacists, with training and development opportunities fully supported to enable all staff to achieve their potential.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering clinical Pharmacy Services to a range of specialties, strong communication and mentoring skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding medicines management. You will prioritise patient safety, be dedicated to excellent clinical governance, and possess strong prioritisation and time‑management skills to work efficiently within the multidisciplinary team.
