Carers Community Group

Carers Community group is a non profit social group for carers to come with their loved ones. It is run by volunteers who are carers themselves and understand the challenges of living with a long term illness.

We offer a friendly, safe, comfortable and supportive space to interact and talk openly with others in a similar situation. Helping form friendships that support eachother & help combat isolation.

Individuals are not judged and can talk to the volunteers and ask for help on safeguarding issues, life long illnesses and other advice and support they need.

We provide the opportunity to engage in ability appropriate games and exercises for physical, mental, and social stimulation.

Informative speakers are invited to attend to talk about things such as the blue badge, IT, benefits available and more.

We also invite other local community groups to come along and showcase what they do.

We aim to support and connect local carers, offering a friendly space to share experiences, meets friends, have fun, access support, and take time for themselves.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for all members.
• Help set up and put away tables and chairs.
• Prepare, put out, and refilling hot drinks and light refreshments.
• Chatting with carers and those they care for, offering a friendly presence.
• Join in with activities and encouraging participation.
• Offer general support to members throughout the session.
• Help ensure everyone feels comfortable, included, and safe.

Skills and experience gained

6 hours every month until March 25, 2027
