About the role They are currently seeking a Cook to join their team based in Leyburn, North Yorkshire. Within this role your responsibilities will include: * Ensuring high standards of food quality form point of delivery to meal preparation, cooking and service. * Providing a food service that fulfils the needs of all residents and customers * Complying and following the companies food safety management system (HACCP) (ensuring temperature control records and food labelling are maintained) * Understanding the prevention and control of infection, food hygiene, COSHH, Health and Safety and Fire Safety and the correct wearing of PPE * Preparing & producing meals within the scheme, and where necessary and reasonable provide emergency cover for the catering staff About you The ideal candidate will: * Have knowledge of current working practices within a busy kitchen * Have the ability to operate catering equipment and maintain high standards of cleanliness * Be able to understand and manage possible conflicting needs and wishes of residents * Ideally hold a Basic Certificate or higher in Food Hygiene * Ideally hold Level 2 Professional cookery, or equivalent, or be prepared to work towards it * Ideally have knowledge of HACCP / Food Safety * Ideally have experience of or a qualification in Health & Nutrition You may on occasion be asked to cover at other schemes in Northallerton so a flexible approach is required along with the willingness to work over 7 days on a rota system and wear a uniform.
