Social Worker required for work within Children & Families as a Social worker in School's in the Devon area. Competitive rates of pay up to £38ph, This contract is for a roles across Devon, Good transport links to M5 & A38, Somerset & Cornwall. Benefits inc flexible working from a week or compressed hours. This is a new team, a different approach to social care. You will have regular communication between you and the school staff, sharing knowledge and expertise, advice and support which increases their confidence in safeguarding issues, and improves the quality of school referrals. You will be in a position to identify common issues in the school and challenge current ways of working in a restorative manner. Through your role you will support school staff to take a young person's wider circumstances into account, improving the service they receive. Social workers should have regular liaison meetings with their team manager and school leader responsible, so that there is a shared understanding of the children and risks, as well as the workload more generally. With the opportunities that will arise from social workers being based in school there may be an aspect of the role that could be described as preventative this may include advising staff, families and young people when they have concerns that they would like to discuss, or working with siblings in the family not considered as meeting threshold. Examples of this preventative work includes: * Working together with the school to build better relationships with families and better understand their needs. This may also lead to families having more clarity of potential concerns and the decision to refer to Children' Social Care if needed. Families would also receive advice and information around this process to support collaborative working. * Working with feeder primary schools that siblings attend or multi-agency working to support an integrated family approach. * Providing an educative component, where the school learns from the social worker's expertise in terms of safeguarding issues and referrals for example. This could happen through the school welcoming and encouraging the social worker's input in relevant meetings such as inclusion meetings. However, social workers will not be expected be carrying out duties of other professionals, be that teachers or other statutory professionals. This should not be confused with Early Intervention work which should continue to be provided as a separate service and would include Team Around the Child and completing Early Help Plans You will be Social Worker England registered, ideally a driver with access to own car and able to reside and work in the UK.
