Description
Remember why you wanted to work in industry in the first place? A chance to make an individual impact. Feeling that your financial acumen is vital to the success of the business you're working for. Being a key figure, entrusted to make decisions, not just part of a process. If your current job no longer offers all those things, maybe it's time you moved. This newly created role in a flourishing family-run company offers the chance to be an accountant who's truly accountable - to move a business forward at a time of huge change. Where you fit in You'll be the first dedicated Finance Manager for Millbry Hill, a leading independent equestrian and country store, with five stores across Yorkshire and Cumbria and over 40,000 products available online. Millbry Hill is part of Armstrong Richardson, a group of businesses that have been trading since 1925. With a £50m annual turnover, the group has cultivated a strong reputation; they're known locally as a good employer and have many long-serving staff. Much of that is down to their friendly, family ethos. The challenge ahead Millbry Hill is already a successful business. The Director is looking for someone she can trust to drive it forward as they enter a period of significant change. That includes moving to the Sage 50 accounting platform and adapting to a new EPOS system. Helping colleagues in head office and stores to get the best out of both systems, is just a part of your remit. You'll also use your financial flair to improve MI, forecasting and monthly reporting, influencing big decisions on investment and expansion. Succeed, and you could grow too - the size and shape of the business means there's definite scope here to take on a Finance Director role in future. About you You either trained in industry or you've moved into it after completing your qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). You need to be comfortable being the go-to finance expert in the business; a vital part of the operation. If you're interested in pets and horses, it's an ideal move but the company is open-minded about who they hire. Alongside all-round accounting expertise, you'll need proven people skills; you'll be regularly liaising with staff in our stores as well as briefing external contacts - auditors, for example. Clearly, you'll need to win the confidence of the directors. You'll do that by showing you're ambitious to progress - to keep yourself and the business moving forward. If you want a routine, 9-5 role, this isn't the job for you. If, on the other hand, you want to see your ideas and energy reflected in the organisation you work for, then we'd really like to talk to you.
