Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Wastewater Modeller in our rapidly growing Edinburgh and Glasgowoffices - whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

In this role, you will be one of the lead technical team members supporting junior members to deliver top quality projects.

We have a collaborative approach to working both within our team and more broadly developing our relationships with the Energy, Environmental and Transportation sectors. We are a dynamic team looking to grow and support the Water Teams across our UK offices.

Here's what you'll do:

• Serves as theprincipal technical advisor and subject matter expertfor wastewater system modeling and analysis, providing guidance to project teams and junior staff.
• Providesspecialised technical inputto planning studies, alternatives analyses, and design related to wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment, and wet weather system performance.
• Develops, maintains, and standardizeswastewater modeling methodologies, procedures, and best practicesto ensure high-quality, defensible, and cost-effective technical work.
• Leads and participates ininterdisciplinary reviewsof planning, modeling, and design deliverables to ensure consistency between hydraulic modeling, process design, and overall project objectives.
• Develops and reviewsplanning-level and design-level cost estimates, including capital improvement costs and level-of-effort estimates for modeling and technical analyses.
• Applies expert knowledge acrossall phases of wastewater modeling contributionsto PS&E packages, including flow development, model calibration, capacity analysis, and support of design criteria.
• Performsquality control and peer reviewof hydraulic and process model setups, assumptions, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Prepares and reviewstechnical memoranda, modeling reports, and specification sectionsrelated to wastewater modeling, data requirements, and performance criteria.
• Provides technical input to the development ofengineering budgets, schedules, and work plans, ensuring modeling tasks are appropriately scoped and aligned with regulatory and project requirements.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what's possible?

Here's what we're looking for:

• A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, GIS, Geography, or similar subject.
• Chartered member or approaching chartership with ICE or CIWEM.
• Extensive experience inwastewater modeling.
• Strong proficiency inGIS and data analysisto support wastewater modeling, particularly usingArcGISfor network development, spatial data management, and results visualization.
• Understanding ofwastewater hydrology and hydraulics, including dry weather flow, wet weather flow, infiltration and inflow (I/I), and climate change impacts, within the UK and international regulatory contexts.
• Proven experience withwastewater and integrated urban drainage modeling platforms, such asInnovyze InfoWorks ICM (wastewater modules),InfoWorks WS Pro,SWMM, or equivalent tools used for sewer system and integrated catchment modeling.
• Demonstrated experience acting astechnical lead for wastewater modeling projects, responsible for model strategy, quality assurance, client interface, and mentoring junior modelers.
• Strong background inwater and wastewater consultancy, delivering planning, regulatory, and capital improvement projects for utilities and public-sector clients.
