Healthcare Assistant – District Nursing - B3, Glasgow

The Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is pleased to offer an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our District Nursing teams within Primary Care Services. This is a valued and rewarding role supporting patients to remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes. You will work closely with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, person‑centred care in community settings. Duration, Location and Working Pattern

• Based at NHS GGC Plean Street Phlebotomy Clinic
• Full Time, Permanent
• Fully flexible between Monday and Sunday

Key Responsibilities

• Support the nursing team to deliver safe, effective care to patients in their own homes and community settings.
• Assist patients with personal care, hygiene, mobility and daily living activities.
• Undertake delegated clinical tasks such as simple dressings, specimen collection, and eye drop administration.
• Support patients with complex and palliative care needs under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times.
• Manage stock supplies and support the smooth running of community clinics.
• Recognise and report changes in a patient’s condition to the nursing team promptly.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience Required

• SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or willingness to undertake required training.
• Experience of working with people in a caring or healthcare environment.
• Ability to work independently while recognising own limitations and scope of practice.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with a compassionate approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining patient dignity, confidentiality and safety.
• Full driving licence or ability to travel independently across the community.
