Essential criteria
- Full registration with licence to practise in the UK
- Attainment of full MRCS, full MRCS (ENT) or acceptable equivalent qualification
- Minimum four years'postgraduate experience in ENT
- Minimum six months'postgraduate experience in ENT
- Good teamwork and leadership skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
Desirable criteria
- Experience of quality improvement and/or clinical audit projects
- Experience of research and critical evaluation skills
- Experience of tonsillectomy, grommet insertion, septoplasty, rigid upper endoscopy, removal of airway foreign body, arrest of epistaxis, management of acute airway obstruction, management of altered airways, and management of two-week wait patients
- Experience in management of critically unwell patients, including those with cervical sepsis, airway obstruction and major head and neck trauma
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of working in specialties allied to ENT such as maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, audiovestibular medicine or critical care medicine
- Experience of middle grade on-call or supervising less experienced doctors in ENT
- Postgraduate academic qualification (eg standalone MPhil, MSc or PhD separate from qualifying MB BS or MD degrees)
- Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates including design and delivery of a skills course with feedback, attendance at formal teaching courses, or a formal qualification in medical education (eg PGCertMedEd)
- Postgraduate academic qualification (eg standalone MPhil, MSc or PhD separate from qualifying MB BS or MD degrees)
- Publications in PubMed-indexed, peer-reviewed ENT academic journals or textbooks
