J&C Joel supply, manufacture, and install, a range of products into the entertainment and events industry. The core of its business is flame retardant fabrics, and manufacturing high‑end technical and decorative drapery. Over the last 15 years J&C Joel has hugely grown and developed its stage engineering solutions through its Project’s department, which installs a wide range of systems, ranging from basic curtain tracks and drapery, through to high performance motorised rigging and stage engineering, with sophisticated automation controls.

OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE:

The Warehouse Operative will be responsible for picking / packing orders and controlling stock. The role will also involve the unpacking and inspection of orders and supporting the Purchasing and Logistics teams with both incoming goods and goods out.

J&C Joel’s Warehouse is in many ways unique, as the style of goods inwards and outwards varies greatly. This can be challenging, however it can also prove to be exciting and rewarding as no two days are the same. This also opens up opportunities for the Operative to gain experience within a number of areas and activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

• Despatching customer orders;
• Picking and packing of orders for deliveries;
• Following necessary policies, practices and procedures;
• Keeping stock up to date;
• Stock control, stock takes and cycle counts;
• Preparing overseas shipments;
• Ensuring overnight carriers are away on time to meet their deadlines;
• Off loading large containers and incoming deliveries;
• Carrying out inspections of incoming orders for quality issues;
• Keeping work area clean and tidy;
• Maintaining a high level of H&S standards;
• Carrying out any other ad hoc duties as instructed by line management.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines;
• Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
• Adaptable and flexible approach to working hours;
• Experience with fabric/roll handling and manual lifting;
• Positive and can‑do attitude;
• Good command of English speaking, writing, and reading;
• Both numeracy and literacy skills at a good level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of two years warehouse experience.
