Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment across our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, strong technical expertise, and excellent leadership qualities to oversee and guide maintenance activities effectively. The ideal applicant will possess a comprehensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and automation systems, with the ability to work independently or supervise team members as needed.

Duties

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motors, sensors, and control panels.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Perform mechanical repairs such as welding, gear replacement, bearing changes, and alignment tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for reporting purposes.
  • Lead maintenance projects and supervise junior technicians or contractors during complex repairs or installations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures during all maintenance activities.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing systems to improve efficiency.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to operational issues within production areas.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending modifications or upgrades to machinery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical knowledge with experience working on PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and electrical schematics.
  • Mechanical expertise including welding, gearboxes, bearings, and general mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams fluently.
  • Previous supervisory or team-leading experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering are preferred. Pay: £30,521.31-£35,000.00 per year
