Engineering Buyer
Overview
An established engineering business is seeking a commercially focused Engineering Buyer to support procurement across manufacturing, fabrication, and site services. The role involves sourcing materials, components, and specialist services while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and purchase engineering materials
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times with suppliers
• Manage supplier performance and onboard new suppliers
• Raise and manage purchase orders in line with project needs
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams
• Support urgent and reactive procurement requirements
• Monitor inventory and ensure continuity of supply
• Drive cost savings through effective sourcing strategies
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and H&S standards

Key Requirements

• Experience in a Buyer role within engineering/manufacturing
• Knowledge of industrial materials and supply chains
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills
• Ability to read technical drawings/specifications
• ERP/MRP system proficiency

Desirable:

• Experience in utilities, oil & gas, or heavy engineering
• CIPS (or working towards)
• Knowledge of fabrication/machining processes

Personal Attributes

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
