Year 2 Teacher – Full-Time, Long-Term Position

Salary: £34,398 - £46,839 (depending on experience)

The Opportunity

A welcoming and community-driven primary school in Hemel Hempstead is looking to appoint a dedicated Year 2 Teacher from September 2026. This position is ideal for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) seeking to build their career within Key Stage 1, particularly in a Year 2 setting where pupils are preparing for their transition into Key Stage 2.

Your Role

You will take responsibility for a lively and motivated Year 2 class, guiding pupils through their final year of Key Stage 1. The role offers the opportunity to deliver a broad and engaging curriculum while supporting pupils' academic progress, confidence, and readiness for Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum
• Prepare pupils for end-of-Key Stage 1 assessments (SATs) in reading, writing, and mathematics
• Teach core subjects, including phonics, reading comprehension, writing, and maths, to a high standard
• Support pupils in consolidating key literacy and numeracy skills
• Create a positive, well-managed classroom environment that supports learning
• Assess pupil progress effectively and use data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
• Contribute positively to the wider school community and team culture

About You

The school is seeking a committed and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for supporting pupils at a crucial stage in their development.

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience is desirable)
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment requirements
• Be confident in preparing pupils for KS1 SATs
• Be organised, adaptable, and effective in behaviour management
• Show dedication to supporting pupils both academically and pastorally
• Be a proactive and collaborative member of staff
