CLIENT ACCOUNTANT

ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Client Accountant who can confidently manage service charge accounting across a varied residential portfolio, delivering accurate accounts, strong financial control and excellent client service without constant supervision.

You’ll work closely with Property Managers, auditors, directors and clients, taking ownership of service charge accounts from preparation through to finalisation, while ensuring compliance with industry legislation, best practice and internal procedures.

This is a role for someone who enjoys accountability, works well under pressure and takes pride in delivering accurate financial work in a professional and commercially focused environment.


ROLE EXPECTATIONS

This is a fast-paced accounting role requiring strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.

You’ll need to balance accuracy, compliance and service delivery while communicating confidently with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

You will be expected to manage your workflow proactively, maintain strong financial controls and contribute towards improving systems, processes and service standards across the wider finance function.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME

Most weeks, you’ll be:

  • Preparing and finalising service charge accounts
  • Producing RMC/RTM statutory accounts and related reporting
  • Liaising with auditors, Property Managers, clients and directors
  • Managing workflows to meet internal KPIs and deadlines
  • Supporting VAT reporting, budgets and ad hoc financial reporting
  • Resolving service charge and accounting-related queries
  • Reviewing financial information to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Supporting continuous improvement across accounting processes

You’ll work in a hybrid capacity, spending 2 days per week in our Hemel Hempstead office and the remainder remotely, trusted to manage your workload and priorities effectively.

EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS

  • Minimum 2 years’ accounting or finance experience
  • Service charge or client accounting experience preferred
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working to KPIs and deadlines
  • AAT qualified or studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA (or equivalent) desirable
  • Knowledge of residential property management or leasehold accounting advantageous
