Customs & Compliance Manager, Ipswich

Position: Customs & Compliance Manager Location: Ipswich Industry: International Freight Forwarding Salary: DOE Brief My client are a well established global freight and logistics provider offering multi modal logistics services to customers around the world. Due to a change in personnel we are now seeking to appoint and experienced Customs & Compliance Manager to join our ever evolving organisation, and become part of our team based at our central HQ in Ipswich. We are keen to speak with individuals with experience in a senior management capacity who is heavily involved with Customs procedures and formalities working within the freight forwarding and International Logistics industry. What you will be responsible for; Customs & Compliance, HR & H&S ISO(9001) Certification requirements AEO Certification requirements Auditing ( ISO / AEO / H&S) Updating of Government information/legislation or organisational information and requirements General Industry Compliance knowledge to support the company or the reliable sourcing of information for: Customs, BIFA, Insurances, Destination requirements) Knowledge Ongoing review and business support for the impact of Brexit Updating and monitoring relevant policies, risk assessments and procedures Day to Day HR responsibilities Employee Engagement and Wellbeing Employee training and development Creation and Maintenance of HR procedures and documentation Handbooks, Contracts, Holiday, Sickness/Wellbeing, disciplinary, recruitment, appraisals Organising and maintaining all mandatory and industry specific training Liaising with Payroll (Accounts) on PAYE matters Liaising with company Solicitors Updating and monitoring relevant policies, risk assessments and procedures Recruitment and apprenticeship scheme Documenting company disciplinary hearings. Updating and monitoring H&S policies, risk assessments, COSHH and procedures Site Health and Safety for all Hemisphere sites. (Auditing/Physical checks) Organising and maintaining relevant training records for both machinery as well as more general training such as first aid and fire warden training. Arranging mandatory external audits and site maintenance/services Understanding and application of new industry requirements and law updates Possible additional areas Obtaining food standards certification for head office warehouse.
