• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in leading, motivating and inspiring a team
• Experience working with fresh seasonal food and good understanding of nutrition
• Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within homes
• Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
• Experience working with a front‑of‑house team to ensure high‑standard dining areas
• Good understanding of HACCP and COSHH
• Knowledge of modified diets using the IDDSI framework (training provided if new to care)

• Lead, motivate and inspire a kitchen and front‑of‑house team, providing development where required
• Develop menus tailored to residents, delivering person‑centred hospitality
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high‑quality, wholesome dishes of the highest standards
• Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch
• Assist the front‑of‑house team with dining area set‑up
• Work within budget, complete regular audits and stock control
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment
• Lead ongoing recruitment and retention efforts
• Manage performance of kitchen and front‑of‑house staff
• Enjoy head‑chef responsibilities without split shifts and long hours, with full autonomy in menu creation and team development
• Participate in the Barchester Chef Academy and support learning across the business
• Benefit from industry‑recognised apprenticeships and further qualifications offered by the internal Learning and Development team
